Backend Engineer

TL;DR

Backend Engineer: Designing and implementing backend features to drive hirify.global's growth funnel with an accent on onboarding, cross-sell, retention, and engagement. Focus on building scalable, event-driven microservices to enable experimentation, real-time personalization, and data-driven decision-making.

Location: Hybrid from our Vancouver, BC office, with two days a week required in the office.

Salary: $105,000 to $128,000, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Design and implement backend features that drive hirify.global’s Growth funnel.
• Build and maintain scalable, event-driven microservices that enable experimentation and real-time personalization.
• Collaborate with Product, Data, and Marketing teams to translate growth hypotheses into technical solutions.
• Ensure system performance, scalability, and reliability under high-throughput and real-time conditions.
• Develop automation and testing frameworks to maintain velocity and confidence in continuous integration and deployment pipelines.
• Proactively identify opportunities to generalize solutions, building reusable infrastructure and APIs.

Requirements

• 1+ years of full-time backend software engineering experience in distributed or microservice-based systems.
• Strong fundamentals in service architecture and API design.
• Proficiency in at least one modern backend language, such as Kotlin, Java, C#, or Python.
• Experience with SQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and familiarity with NoSQL systems.
• Familiarity with event-driven patterns and REST/gRPC services.
• Collaborative mindset, with experience working alongside product, data, and design teams.

• Experience with experimentation frameworks, growth systems, or AI-powered personalization tools.
