Location: This role is based in Mountain View, United States, with an option for Redmond, United States for the Signals Modeling team. Employees are expected to work from a designated Microsoft office at least four days per week if they live within a 50-mile commute in the U.S.

Salary: The typical base pay range across the U.S. is USD $119,800 – $234,700 per year. For San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the range is USD $158,400 – $258,000 per year.

What you will do

• Develop and deploy cutting-edge machine learning models, including transformers, generative AI, and reinforcement learning.
• Optimize user interactions and ad relevance across Microsoft Ads, Microsoft Audience Network, and Copilot.
• Design scalable algorithms for online and offline systems, focusing on content selection and ad generation.
• Drive experimentation through A/B testing and offline validation to refine user behavior predictions.
• Build robust data pipelines and frameworks for handling large-scale, high-dimensional datasets.
• Stay at the forefront of AI research, incorporating the latest advancements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 4+ years of related experience.
• OR Master’s Degree in a related field AND 3+ years of experience OR Doctorate in a related field AND 1+ year of experience.
• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements, including passing the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Nice to have

• Master’s or Doctorate Degree with additional years of experience (6+ for Master's, 3+ for Doctorate).
• Proven experience in programming and data analysis skills.
• 2+ years of experience in developing and deploying large-scale machine learning models.
• Proven expertise in Generative AI, deep learning, or transformers.
• 2+ years of experience in reinforcement learning and contextual bandits.
