Technical Support Engineer (Networking)

TL;DR

Technical Support Engineer (Networking): Providing level 2 technical support for industrial networking solutions and products with an accent on MPLS-TP architecture, routing protocols, and troubleshooting complex connection issues. Focus on root cause analysis, network design advice, and creating proactive documentation for customers.

Location: Ideally, the person in this role will reside within a few hours driving distance from the Charlotte, NC metro area. This role is based in the US.

Salary: $75,000–$105,000.00

What you will do

• Provide 2nd level technical support to customers for company and customer networks.
• Analyze customer issues, recreate problems for root cause analysis, and escalate to Level 3 when necessary.
• Advise on network design and configuration to ensure high availability and scalability.
• Create knowledge base articles, how-to guides, and application notes.
• Collaborate with internal teams, providing technical direction and design assistance.
• Travel required (~30%).

Requirements

• Bachelor of Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Strong networking background with experience in Ethernet communication, routing (OSPF), C37.94, and legacy protocols.
• Deep understanding of MPLS-TP architecture, including label switching principles and LSPs.
• Knowledge of fault-tolerant design and protection switching mechanisms.
• Strong analytical skills for troubleshooting telecommunication networks and ability to use Wireshark.
• Must have US work authorization.

Nice to have

• Programming/Scripting skills (Python).
• CCNA/CCNP qualification.
• Knowledge of Power Transmission and Distribution and/or Transportation applications.
