Core Java Backend Engineer (FinTech)

Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands; hybrid with 1–2 remote workdays per week

Salary: €85,000–€100,000 per year, plus stock options

What you will do

• Build low-latency, high-throughput microservices using Core Java 21/25.
• Design scalable and secure backend services for international payments.
• Run services in Kubernetes and use Kafka and PostgreSQL for event-driven data processing.
• Reduce latency and improve throughput in complex distributed systems.
• Build security and compliance solutions for mission-critical FinTech infrastructure.
• Contribute to architecture, system design, and technical standards across teams.

Requirements

• At least 6 years of experience as a backend software engineer.
• Strong knowledge of Core Java, including versions 17, 21, or 25.
• Experience designing and building distributed, low-latency systems.
• Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and system design.
• Technical BSc or MSc degree.
• Experience with Kafka, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, and Docker is beneficial; FinTech or mission-critical experience is a strong advantage.
