What you will do
- Modernise high-impact legacy services using AI to analyse codebases, understand dependencies, and extract clean APIs.
- Implement strangler fig patterns and other migration approaches to deliver modernised services with comprehensive tests and documentation.
- Ship modernised services in fast cycles, using AI to accelerate analysis, refactoring, testing, and documentation.
- Build AI-powered development infrastructure, including Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers and AI-assisted CI/CD pipelines.
- Develop automation using Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, and LLM APIs, creating reusable AI tooling.
- Demonstrate AI-first development by using AI for all coding tasks and achieving measurable productivity improvements.
Requirements
- 8+ years of software engineering experience with Java backend expertise.
- Experience modernising production systems at scale.
- Strong API design and microservices architecture knowledge, including strangler fig patterns and legacy migration strategies.
- Hands-on experience building with Model Context Protocol (MCP) and using AI development tools like Claude Code or GitHub Copilot in production work.
- Experience implementing AI in CI/CD pipelines (code review, testing, security scanning).
- Proven track record of shipping production systems built with AI assistance and achieving measurable productivity improvements using AI.
- English: B2+ required.
- Must be able to work 3 days a week from the London office.
