What you will do

• Recruit, guide, advise, and coach diverse and seasoned engineering teams.
• Collaborate with peers and the director of engineering to develop and expand the product and engineering organization.
• Develop and maintain critical regulatory and security features using PHP/Laravel.
• Take ownership of your work from design to deployment, either independently or as part of a collaborative team.
• Collaborate with product and design teams to translate complex business problems into elegant, customer-focused solutions.
• Contribute to the modernization of our infrastructure and applications, ensuring our platform is resilient and performant.

Requirements

• Must be based in the UK.
• Strong background in PHP and Laravel.
• Comfortable building large-scale front- and back-end systems.
• Knowledge of designing and implementing REST APIs.
• Knowledge of infrastructure technologies (MariaDB, NGINX, Ansible, RabbitMQ, Redis, AWS S3, Jenkins) and their operational support.
• Possess senior-level engineering experience and capable of leading technical discussions among the team, with experience overseeing performance and delivery.
• Enjoy engaging directly with customers to grasp their issues and priorities.
• Drive effective communication within teams, including asynchronous documentation via Architectural Decision Records (ADRs).
• Accustomed to operating with significant alignment and independence, and comfortable navigating technical uncertainty.
