Staff Software Engineer

TL;DR

Staff Software Engineer (Fintech): Leading a team to develop and maintain high-throughput, resilient backend systems for processing millions of card payments with an accent on API design, database performance, and PCI security compliance. Focus on applying in-depth technical knowledge, driving complex code development, and ensuring 100% system uptime.

Location: Remote-first flexible working, but must reside in Northern Ireland or be within commuting distance to Belfast and be eligible to work in the UK on a permanent and full-time basis.

What you will do

• Lead a team of software engineers in delivering features for the Merchantware Gateway product roadmap.
• Develop using front and/or backend programming languages within multiple platforms.
• Provide broad and in-depth knowledge for analysis, modification, and development of complex code/unit testing.
• Perform and advise on testing, validation requirements, and corrective measures for complex code deficiencies.
• Contribute to project success by providing ideas, strategies, and improving communication among team members.
• Assist with software deployment activities to internal test environments and production data centers.

Requirements

• 6+ years of software development experience.
• Experience with server-side development in a Windows .NET environment (C#).
• Experience designing and implementing scalable Web service solutions.
• Experience with relational databases (SQL Server).
• Experience working in a CI/CD environment and with test automation (Unit tests, BDD/Specflow).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Must reside in Northern Ireland or be within commuting distance to Belfast and be eligible to work in the UK on a permanent and full-time basis.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of payment processing and PCI standards.
• Experience with UI technologies, HTML, CSS.
