Location: Hub Based - Hybrid. You will be assigned to the closest one of hirify.global's three hub offices in Bristol, Glasgow, or London and are expected to be in the office at least once a week. hirify.global is unable to offer sponsorship for this role.

What you will do

• Design, manage, and enhance monitoring, alerting, and observability systems.
• Define and track SLOs and SLIs, refine incident response, and support on-call operations.
• Resolve complex production incidents and conduct blameless post-mortems.
• Assess infrastructure usage and apply strategies to optimise cloud costs.
• Support capacity planning, recommend performance improvements, and implement resilience best practices.
• Collaborate with engineering, QA, security, and product teams to embed reliability practices.
• Contribute to design reviews, offering guidance on reliability, scalability, and operability.
• Actively contribute to a Community of Practice.

Requirements

• Professional experience in programming languages such as Python, Typescript, Go, or Java.
• Hands-on experience with public cloud ecosystems (AWS, GCP, or Azure), understanding distributed system failures and fault tolerance design.
• Advanced experience with Terraform, Pulumi, or Crossplane for Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
• Data-driven mindset, using metrics and logs to drive engineering decisions.
• Ability to debug complex problems, including diving into Linux kernel or network stack issues.
• Passion for mentoring engineers on SRE practices.
• Efficiency and Cost Engineering Mindset, treating capacity planning and cost optimisation as software engineering challenges.
• Must be able to work from one of hirify.global's hub offices in Bristol, Glasgow, or London at least once a week.
