Senior Software Engineer - Generalist (Foundations) (Apex Legends)

Location: Hybrid in Los Angeles, California, or Vancouver, British Columbia

Salary: $193,100–$296,500 USD annually in California; $169,500–$242,600 CAD annually in British Columbia.

What you will do

• Design and maintain foundational engine systems across physics, memory, input, and platform layers.
• Own cross-cutting technical initiatives from initial design through release.
• Optimize memory, CPU, bandwidth, and runtime performance across gameplay systems.
• Debug and resolve complex issues in large-scale shared codebases.
• Integrate platform and partner technologies into the engine while collaborating with design, art, and audio teams.
• Mentor engineers through code reviews and technical guidance.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience developing game engine or systems-level code.
• Strong C and C++ experience in performance-critical systems.
• Experience working in large, shared codebases and optimizing memory, CPU, or runtime performance.
• At least one shipped AAA game for console or PC.
• Experience developing for Sony, Microsoft, or Nintendo platforms.
• Strong understanding of 3D mathematics or simulation systems.
