TL;DR

Senior Tools Programmer (Unreal Engine): Designs and enhances the UI content creation pipeline and tools for Unreal Engine and UEFN with an accent on improving efficiency and user experience. Focus on developing UI systems tools and core runtime UI capabilities to impact millions of users and players.

Location: This role is open to multiple locations in North America (excluding CA, NY, & WA).

What you will do

  • Own, develop, improve, and optimize the code of UI tech used to build tools and in-game UI in Unreal Engine.
  • Collaborate with programmers, artists, UI and UX designers to identify areas for improvement and design solutions for customer needs.
  • Analyze and fix common problems in a game engine, such as performance issues and memory usage.
  • Work collaboratively across many of Epic's internal teams and with Unreal Engine's licensees to enable them to overcome their challenges.

Requirements

  • Strong C++ skills and experience working within large codebases.
  • Experience designing and writing tools that improve the customer’s user experience, iteration, and development time in game development or other fields.
  • Demonstrate in-depth understanding of tools development, UI Frameworks, and runtime UI engines.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team, coupled with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
