Distinguished Engineer

TL;DR

Distinguished Engineer (Cloud): Building and scaling architecture and experience across multiple cloud environments, leveraging open-source technologies and delivering platform-as-a-service solutions with an accent on service fundamentals like availability, reliability, performance, and scalability. Focus on designing fault-tolerant, highly available, and low-latency control plane architectures for cloud-native services and improving developer velocity through modern CI/CD practices.

Location: Hybrid in San Jose, California; Waltham, Massachusetts; Morrisville, North Carolina; or Bellevue, Washington, United States

Salary: $290,000–$350,000

What you will do

• Lead the definition, design, architecture, and delivery of advanced cross-cutting challenges within the Cloud business unit.
• Operate independently, acting as a force multiplier for complex company challenges.
• Foster a culture of learning and advocate for engineering, QA, and operational best practices.
• Serve as a technical leader on demanding, cross-functional engineering projects.
• Architect and build modern CI/CD infrastructure for hundreds of developers.
• Architect and design modern, cloud-native QA frameworks and components.

Requirements

• Minimum of 10+ years of experience as a software engineer, with 4+ years hands-on experience as a senior Principal Engineer leading multiple teams.
• Expert knowledge in performance, scalability, enterprise system architecture, and engineering best practices.
• Expert in designing and building large-scale systems in a multi-tiered, distributed environment (Service Oriented Architecture).
• Extensive experience building fault-tolerant and high-scale distributed architecture on AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Proficient in at least one modern programming language such as Rust, GoLang, or Java.
• Excellent communication and writing skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with open-source technologies like Apache Cassandra, Kafka, PostgreSQL.
• Familiarity with storage systems (RAID, Volumes, Replication solutions).
• Experience with monitoring frameworks (CloudWatch, Datadog, Grafana, Elastic).
