Director, Engineering (NG-SIEM Serverless Platform)

Director, Engineering (NG-SIEM Serverless Platform): Leading the development and operation of a global serverless platform for a cybersecurity SIEM, managing large-scale event data storage and search services. Location: Candidates are required to be based in one of the following cities: Sunnyvale, CA; Redmond, WA; Austin, TX; Toronto, Canada. You will also travel a few times every year to meet with your teams and peers.

Salary: $195,000 - $290,000 per year USD (US candidates), with eligibility for bonuses, equity grants and a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance and 401k. Compensation for Canada is $210,000 - $320,000 CAD per year plus variable/incentive compensation, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Uphold operational excellence for region-level and cell-level serverless platform systems, driving secure and high-quality engineering.
• Lead technical and product strategy and roadmap execution, balancing distributed system engineering, end-to-end system resilience, and hardware utilization.
• Be instrumental in the hiring, retention, mentorship, and growth of world-class engineering and management teams.
• Engage and collaborate with various product and platform engineering organizations, sales, customer success, and support teams.

Requirements

• 12+ years of experience operating, architecting, designing, upholding SLOs for, and developing distributed system platform software products/releases in a hyper-scale cloud environment.
• 8+ years of experience managing teams of 6+ individual contributors, and 3+ years of experience managing several teams and managers.
• Successful track record of scaling large SaaS-type offerings (e.g., to >500k CPU cores) with unit cost optimization and capacity forecasting.
• Demonstrated track record of operational excellence when operating services that span many components across several geographical regions.
• Proven ability to lead from the front during operational incidents and solve complex scenarios of integrating multiple 24/7 systems and services.
• Experience working with remote teams across geographies and cultures.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to work with teams across the globe.
• For Canadian-based employment, all employees must maintain legal entitlement to work in Canada.

Nice to have

• Experience in a similar role within a hyperscaler cloud company (AWS, Azure, GCP) or similar large-scale platform provider.
• Deep expertise in cloud-native architectures and serverless computing paradigms.
• Exposure to/experience with cybersecurity and intelligence, machine learning, and data science.
