TL;DR

Openstack Cloud Engineer: Independently implementing core infrastructure and security services in on-premises environments with an accent on automation of time-intensive processes and meeting security objectives. Focus on infrastructure provisioning and configuration management, self-service, infrastructure-as-code services, and auto scale initiatives.

Location: 3 days a week in office in London or Bristol, 2 days from home

What you will do

• Lead cloud system design activities and review system designs to assure solutions will exhibit expected levels of performance and security.
• Manage automation initiatives of cloud infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and DevOps deployment.
• Communicate with stakeholders to influence the adoption of cloud-native systems and inform stakeholders on how to use platform capabilities effectively.
• Deliver consultative advice on system architecture and recommend solutions in alignment with systems engineering best practices.
• Identify, analyze, and resolve complex infrastructure vulnerabilities and application deployment issues independently.
• Mentor other cloud engineers, helping to improve the team's abilities by acting as a technical resource.

Requirements

• Design, deploy, and manage scalable and secure cloud infrastructure using OpenStack components (Nova, Neutron, Cinder, Glance, Keystone, Horizon, etc.).
• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines for cloud-native applications in OpenStack environments.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with OpenStack deployment and operations.
• Strong understanding of Linux systems administration.
• Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) in OpenStack environments.
• Hands-on expertise with tools such as Microsoft AD CS, HashiCorp Vault, OpenSSL, and HSMs (Hardware Security Modules).

Nice to have

• Experience with OpenStack APIs and custom automation scripting (Python, Bash).
• Deep understanding of cryptographic protocols, certificate lifecycle management, and key management systems.
• Experience in designing and deploying networking solutions to meet client technical and business requirements.
