What you will do

• Design and develop a service-oriented decoupled web application.
• Architect manipulation and storage of biological sequence data, considering biochemical variety.
• Architect APIs for interacting with machine learning models, managing versioning over time.
• Provide technical leadership for high-quality software engineering processes.
• Collaborate with biologists, machine learning experts, and scientists to solve challenges.

Requirements

• Extensive industry experience in developing back-end systems in a modern cloud environment.
• Proficiency with Python and its ecosystem (FastAPI, uv, ruff, pyright).
• Experience with databases and big data systems.
• Experience building production systems for machine learning applications.
• Familiarity with containerized backend systems (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with highly-available distributed cloud systems.
• Ability to work from Zürich or Amsterdam.

• Prior biological experience.
