TL;DR

Lighting TD: Responsible for lighting shots in Houdini using Arnold, delivering final renders that integrate seamlessly into comp. Focus on visual quality, render efficiency, and scene cleanliness, while addressing render issues and workflow inconsistencies to align lighting with shot needs.

Location: Hybrid role based in office in Old Street, required to work in the studio a minimum 2 days a week.

What you will do

• Light shots in Houdini using SOP-based workflows and Arnold.
• Match lighting style, mood, and continuity based on references or templates.
• Ensure renders hold up in comp by reviewing slap comps and render passes.
• Address missing data, render issues, or workflow inconsistencies.
• Collaborate closely with comp, layout, and FX to align lighting with shot needs.
• Maintain clean lighting scenes with clear naming and version control.

Requirements

• Proficient in Houdini (SOP-based lighting workflows) and Arnold rendering.
• Good understanding of light, shadow, colour, and photorealism.
• Solid grasp of AOVs, render settings, and scene management.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Familiarity with USD/LOPs workflows in Houdini.
• 3–4 years in VFX or a related field.
• You need to have a current and full work permit for the region that you’ll be working in.
