TL;DR

Mid Lighting TD (VFX): Responsible for lighting shots in Houdini using Arnold, ensuring final renders integrate seamlessly into comp with attention to visual quality and render efficiency. Focus on optimizing scenes and caches for farm submission, delivering noise-free, production-ready renders aligned with the show's creative direction.

Location: Hybrid role based in Old Street, London, required to work in the studio a minimum of 2 days a week. You need to have a current and full work permit for the region that you’ll be working in. Please disclose if you need sponsorship support to be able to work for hirify.global.

What you will do

• Light shots in Houdini using SOP-based workflows and Arnold.
• Match lighting style, mood, and continuity based on references or templates.
• Ensure renders hold up in comp by reviewing slap comps and render passes.
• Maintain clean lighting scenes with clear naming and version control.
• Work closely with comp, layout, and FX to align lighting with shot needs.
• Keep the team updated on progress and flag blockers early.

Requirements

• Proficient in Houdini (SOP-based lighting workflows) and Arnold rendering.
• Good understanding of light, shadow, colour, and photorealism.
• Solid grasp of AOVs, render settings, and scene management.
• 3–4 years in VFX or a related field.
• Excellent communicator, sharing information clearly and actively listening.
• Strong time management, ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and escalate delays in a timely manner.
