What you will do
- Design systems, write specs, code, and release plans for complex changes.
- Roll out production releases and coordinate system actions with other teams.
- Participate in daily and ad-hoc team meetings for collaboration.
- Join the team’s on-call schedule to ensure production system uptime.
- Investigate and resolve customer issues escalated to the Egress team.
- Respond to questions from other teams in internal chat rooms.
Requirements
- Systems-level programming experience in Go, Rust, C, or C++.
- Solid grasp of networking protocols in Layers 3 and 4 of the OSI Model.
- Knowledge of HTTP, TLS, and CDN networks.
- Experience implementing secure and highly-available distributed systems.
- Strong ability to debug issues in complex systems.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills.
- Experience/interest in HTTP networking and VPN technologies or network performance monitoring and tuning.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of TCP/IP and Internet routing.
- Professional systems-level programming experience in Rust.
- Experience building tools and APIs.
- Experience with monitoring, alerting, and debugging large-scale distributed systems.
- Experience participating in an on-call rotation.
