Software Engineering Team Lead (Go/Fintech): Leading a cross-functional team in developing a next-generation investment platform with an accent on team delivery, line management, process improvement, and automation. Location: Hybrid in Manchester, London, or Bristol, United Kingdom. Minimum 50% in-office per month, including one day in Bristol. Initial period for new team members is full-time in the office.

What you will do

• Lead a cross-functional engineering team, providing line management, feedback, coaching, and mentoring to approximately 5 engineers.
• Engage in the full software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering to building, testing, deploying, and supporting services in production.
• Continuously improve products, processes, and practices, focusing on reducing friction and waste.
• Promote and implement automated testing, continuous integration, and continuous deployment.
• Work flexibly across different technologies and specialisms as needed to achieve team goals.

Requirements

• Previous experience leading an engineering team, including line management, personal development coaching, and performance reviews.
• Excellent programming and problem-solving skills.
• Understanding of software design patterns and paradigms such as OOAD, DDD, MVC, microservices, containers/orchestration, or event-driven architecture.
• Experience creating performant, scalable, secure, and well-tested code.
• Strong sense of ownership, clearing roadblocks and collaborating effectively.
• Hybrid working requiring a minimum of 50% in the office (Manchester, London, or Bristol), with an initial full-time office period for new team members.
• English: B2 required.

Nice to have

• Experience working with Investment or Pensions platforms.
• Prior knowledge of Go, gRPC/proto, PostgreSQL, Kubernetes/Docker, TypeScript, Vue, Dart/Flutter.
