What you will do

• Provide pragmatic legal advice on a wide range of technology-related matters and initiatives.
• Draft, advise, and negotiate commercial and technology agreements to support revenue growth and ensure compliance.
• Support the implementation of governance frameworks and policies, including for data and AI.
• Advise on cybersecurity preparedness, incident response, data protection, privacy, and regulatory investigations.
• Partner with product, engineering, technology, security, data, and AI teams on legal implications of system design.
• Provide risk-calibrated guidance on legal questions without clear answers to help the business move forward.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Laws (or equivalent) and a current practicing certificate.
• At least ten years of experience, ideally from top-tier practice and in-house tech or data sector experience.
• Extensive experience advising on data governance, IT, and commercial transactions, with at least four years in cyber law and demonstrable knowledge of AI.
• Strong understanding of GDPR, Australian privacy law, and global governance and AI regulatory frameworks.
• Ability to read architecture diagrams, understand data flows, and recognize legal implications of engineering decisions.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
