Backend Engineer (Fintech)

Location: Must be based in The Netherlands with a valid work permit, onsite in Utrecht office at least 4 days a week

What you will do

• Build and maintain a distributed, high-performance backend platform
• Deliver production code impacting many customers within first weeks
• Own design, development, deployment, and support of new functionality
• Collaborate with Product, Design, Marketing, and Sales teams
• Identify and improve platform scalability and robustness
• Stay current with backend technologies and best practices

Requirements

• Must live in The Netherlands and have a valid work permit
• 5+ years experience with object-oriented programming (Kotlin/Java)
• Strong understanding of APIs, PostgreSQL, containerization (Docker), version control (Git), and testing
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Willingness to work onsite in Utrecht office at least 4 days per week

Nice to have

• Experience with financial product companies or interest in FinTech
• Experience with CRM (Hubspot, SalesForce) or ERP (NetSuite) integrations
