What you will do
- Serve as primary contact for the ICO and ensure compliance with UK GDPR, DPA 2018, DUAA, PECR, and monitor EU GDPR/AI Act implications.
- Develop, maintain, and implement data protection strategy, policies, and internal controls.
- Lead Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), Legitimate Interest Assessments (LIAs), and Transfer Risk Assessments (TRAs).
- Advise on privacy-by-design, consent management, cookie compliance, and lawful processing bases.
- Support security incident management, lead personal data breach assessments, and advise on vendor due diligence/data agreements.
- Design and deliver training to build privacy literacy and champion a "privacy first" mindset.
- Conduct regular assessments, audits, and reviews of compliance and operational practices.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a DPO or Privacy Manager within a UK organisation.
- Detailed understanding of UK GDPR, DPA 2018, DUAA, PECR, and ICO guidance.
- Strong experience in DPIAs, risk assessments, audits, and implementing compliance frameworks.
- Familiarity with technical security measures, SSDLC, data architecture, and modern data ecosystems.
- Strong understanding of cookie compliance and tracking technologies.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience in providing support and advice on AI technologies.
Nice to have
- Professional privacy certifications (e.g., CIPP/E, CIPM, CIPT, BSC DPO).
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and modern data tooling.
- Experience supporting fast-growth tech environments or regulated industries.
- Legal, information-security, or data-governance background.
