Location: Redmond, United States. Employees who live within a 50-mile commute of a designated Microsoft office in the U.S. are expected to work from the office at least four days per week starting January 26, 2026.

Salary: USD $139,900 – $274,800 per year (typical U.S. range); USD $188,000 – $304,200 per year (San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area).

What you will do

• Architect scalable, low-latency systems for ingesting, processing, and serving personalized signals.
• Design, build, and maintain robust pipelines for telemetry, product usage, and experimentation data.
• Own orchestration, monitoring, and DevOps for critical data workflows.
• Design data models and APIs that enable Copilot to reason about user context, preferences, and history.
• Build real-time and batch personalization engines that adapt Copilot’s behavior.
• Collaborate with privacy, security, and responsible AI teams to ensure personalization is safe, transparent, and user-controlled.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
• 6+ years’ experience building scalable services on top of cloud infrastructure like Azure, AWS, or GCP.
• 4+ years experience of OSS data technology, such as Kafka, Spark, Flink.
• Work from the office at least four days per week, if living within a 50-mile commute of a designated Microsoft office in the U.S.

Nice to have

• Master’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience, OR Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 12+ years technical engineering experience OR equivalent experience.
• Experience with large scale data systems.
• Experience working with AI platforms, frameworks, and APIs.
• Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve complex technical issues, ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and user experience.
• Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work closely with cross-functional teams.
• Passion for learning new technologies and staying up to date with industry trends.
