Location: Expected to work from the office at least four days per week if living within a 50-mile commute of a designated Microsoft office in the U.S.

Salary: USD $119,800 – $234,700 per year. Different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area: USD $158,400 – $258,000 per year.

What you will do

• Lead infrastructure design and architecture, analyzing challenges in on-prem and Azure platform and infrastructure solutions.
• Guide cross-functional teams through architectural discussions and decision-making for solution components.
• Drive AKS enablement and workload onboarding by creating standardized tools and providing hands-on guidance.
• Author well-designed, scalable, reliable infrastructure code and libraries for essential platform functions.
• Collaborate with product engineering and product teams to understand product and platform architecture and develop infrastructure improvements.
• Mentor other engineers throughout the design and testing process.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
• 4+ years of experience designing and delivering distributed systems or platform infrastructure, including significant experience in Microsoft Azure and Infrastructure as Code such as Terraform or Bicep.
• Experience managing systems at scale in globally distributed, highly available, real-time, 24/7 environments with solid reliability and security requirements.
• Proficiency in modern software development practices, including CI/CD pipelines, code review, and testing, using languages such as Go, Python, or TypeScript.
• Demonstrated ability to drive architectural direction across multiple teams and influence technical decisions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
• Hands-on experience deploying and operating AKS at scale, including networking, identity/workload identity, and secure cluster patterns using Fleet Manager.
• Hands-on experience building and operating Terraform module ecosystems and platform onboarding toolchains.
