TL;DR
Senior Data Scientist (Simulation): Designing and implementing advanced simulation frameworks to forecast outcomes, quantify uncertainty, and support strategic decision-making with an accent on integrating statistical, mathematical, and computational methods. Focus on building scalable simulation pipelines on high-performance infrastructures and translating business challenges into predictive analytics problems.
Location: Hybrid in Annapolis Junction, Alexandria, Chantilly, Washington, Reston, Herndon, Bethesda, Catonsville, Frederick, or Ashburn, United States. Must be eligible to obtain a Federal Clearance at some point after hired. will not be providing visa sponsorship for this position now or in the future.
Salary: $165,000–$285,000 per year

What you will do
- Design and implement simulation systems to forecast outcomes, assess risk, and optimize decision-making under uncertainty.
- Develop and validate stochastic and deterministic simulations, integrating statistical, mathematical, and computational methods.
- Apply machine learning and statistical techniques to structured, semi-structured, and streaming datasets for trend identification.
- Build scalable simulation pipelines on distributed, clustered, and cloud-based high-performance infrastructures.
- Integrate simulation outputs into interactive visualization tools to communicate forecasts and scenario results to stakeholders.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business challenges into predictive analytics problems and simulation-based solutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science, engineering or a related field.
- 10 years of experience as a data scientist.
- In-depth knowledge in mathematics, statistics, probability, and simulation methodologies (Monte Carlo, agent-based modeling, discrete event simulation).
- Experience working in an agile environment.
- Experience with predictive analytics tools and frameworks in Python, R, or similar languages.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a highly collaborative, team-based environment.
- Must have the ability to work without a need for current or future visa sponsorship.
Nice to have
- Experience working in aviation/with the FAA or supporting Federal Clients.
- Familiarity with APIs, data transformation, and integration standards such as JSON, XML, REST, and SOAP.
- Experience with cloud-based analytics tools.
- General knowledge and experience with leading automation software projects.
