TL;DR

Staff Backend Engineer (Blockchain): Designing and leading delivery of backend platform capabilities for a blockchain intelligence platform with an accent on scalability, performance, and operational excellence. Focus on architecting event-driven workflows, mentoring engineers, and improving reliability and security of cloud and on-premises systems.

Location: Hybrid in New York Office, United States

Salary: $165K – $220K plus equity and bonus

What you will do

Design and lead delivery of new platform capabilities for mission-critical investigations and monitoring workflows.
Operate and improve backend services handling large-scale data ingestion, transformation, and APIs.
Enhance scalability, performance, cost efficiency, reliability, security, and compliance of systems.
Mentor engineers and influence technical strategy across teams.
Architect event-driven and streaming workflows using Kafka and related technologies.
Drive operational excellence including SLOs, runbooks, on-call, incident reviews, and capacity planning.

Requirements

Location: Must be able to work hybrid in New York Office
Expert backend engineering experience with cloud-hosted services and data pipelines on AWS or GCP.
Proficiency with APIs, streaming systems, distributed systems, and Kubernetes.
Experience operating systems at scale with high reliability, security, and cost awareness.
Strong leadership skills including mentoring and cross-organizational influence.
English proficiency at least B2 (job posting in English).

Nice to have

Blockchain domain knowledge including smart contracts and Solidity.
Experience with Databricks, PySpark, multi-tenant billing systems, or regulated/air-gapped deployments.
