Senior Backend Engineer (Golang): Building and optimizing multi-tenant, scalable SaaS platforms for Grafana's core architecture with an accent on refactoring large systems to enable new Cloud applications. Focus on designing and implementing features for distributed systems, ensuring operational experience, and safely rolling out changes to avoid service disruptions.

Location: Remote (USA and Canada EST time only)

Salary: 164,000–205,000 CAD

What you will do

• Code new features and enhance operational experience of developed systems, iteratively improving based on production insights.
• Author, contribute to, and review design documents.
• Take an active role in shaping the product roadmap.
• Mentor and support other team members, collaborating across the organization.
• Own the customer experience by participating in weekday (12h x 5d) and weekend (24h x 2d) on-call rotations.

Requirements

• Strong coding skills and operational experience, responsible for operating built software.
• Experience working on a SaaS platform and dealing with common distributed systems problems (e.g., scalability, multi-tenancy, data isolation, HA).
• Excellent communication skills to express ideas clearly in writing and during meetings.
• Willingness to work across teams, aligning work with stakeholders and being open to feedback.
• Pragmatic approach, prioritizing progress over perfection and handling ambiguity.
• Familiarity with Golang or excitement to learn the language is required.
