Backend Developer (Virtualization Infrastructure): Develop and maintain a large-scale VMware-based virtualization platform with an accent on backend server development, API stability, and distributed system management. Focus on designing provisioning systems, managing virtual machine configurations, and ensuring platform reliability in a globally distributed environment.

Location: Hybrid in Budapest, Hungary

What you will do

Maintain and enhance a globally deployed VMware-based virtualization platform.
Develop solutions to simplify management and configuration of a heterogeneous virtualization environment.
Contribute to provisioning system development and tooling for platform support.
Provide APIs and command-line interfaces for system administrators and developers.
Collaborate with a geographically distributed team of engineers.

Requirements

Strong Python and Perl programming skills with secure, testable, robust code.
Experience with large modular projects and SQL/database programming.
Familiarity with modern development tools: git, jenkins, agile, continuous integration.
Expert knowledge of Linux and UNIX system calls.
Experience in backend server development for highly available distributed systems and APIs.

Nice to have

Experience in large multinational enterprises and globally distributed teams.
Experience with large scale IaaS platforms and VMware virtualization technologies.
Effective troubleshooting skills across hardware, OS, network, and storage.
Knowledge of Erlang and Prolog programming languages.
