What you will do

• Lead technical direction and architecture for the Efficiency and Automation team ensuring scalability and maintainability.
• Design, build, and maintain backend services and internal platforms focused on automation and operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and operations stakeholders to identify inefficiencies and deliver automated solutions.
• Contribute hands-on by writing code, reviewing pull requests, and troubleshooting production issues.
• Mentor engineers through technical guidance, code reviews, and architectural decisions.
• Promote best engineering practices including testing, CI/CD, and observability.

Requirements

• Location: Hybrid work based in Belgrade, Serbia
• 3+ years backend software engineering experience with recent technical leadership or senior mentoring.
• Expertise in Java or .NET; Rust knowledge is a plus.
• Strong experience with PostgreSQL and writing performant SQL.
• Understanding of distributed systems, background processing, messaging queues, and event-driven architectures.
• Hands-on experience with AWS, GCP, Docker, and engineering best practices like CI/CD and infrastructure as code.
• Strong communication skills and proactive ownership mindset.
