Software Engineer Infrastructure

Location: Remote within the United States or from Figma hubs in San Francisco and New York. In-person onboarding is required.

Annual base salary: $153,000–$376,000 USD.

What you will do

• Design, build, and operate scalable, reliable infrastructure systems for real-time collaborative design tools.
• Architect distributed systems covering storage platforms, streaming infrastructure, and compute orchestration.
• Build internal platforms, CI/CD systems, build tools, and APIs to improve developer experience.
• Collaborate with product and infrastructure teams on secure, maintainable, and performant systems.
• Shape platform strategy, technical roadmaps, and engineering practices while mentoring other engineers.
• Debug and resolve complex production issues across services and infrastructure layers.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, particularly in backend or infrastructure engineering.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems concepts including sharding, replication, consistency, and eventual convergence.
• Experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure, infrastructure-as-code, and container orchestration.
• Proficiency in Go, TypeScript, Python, Rust, or Ruby.
• Strong system design, communication, collaboration, and mentoring skills.
• Ability to work remotely within the United States or from a US hub; in-person onboarding is required.

Nice to have

• Experience scaling Postgres, Redis, S3, or DynamoDB storage platforms, or operating Kafka streaming systems.
• Experience with traffic management, DDoS mitigation, Envoy, Istio, or service mesh technologies.
• Experience building real-time distributed systems, developer productivity tools, CI/CD pipelines, or large-scale shared developer platforms.
