Software Engineer, AI Product

Location: Remote within the United States or onsite at the San Francisco or New York hub. In-person onboarding is required, and cameras must remain on during video interviews.

Annual base salary: $153,000–$376,000 USD.

What you will do

• Lead the development of early-phase AI systems that enhance user experience.
• Build systems to measure and improve AI performance and relevance.
• Define AI engineering strategies using machine learning, data analysis, and experimental design.
• Collaborate with software engineers, product managers, data scientists, and AI researchers.
• Mentor engineers, promote data and AI best practices, and support a collaborative team culture.
• Improve the hiring process and help recruit AI talent.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 1 year developing generative AI products.
• Experience prototyping and taking successful 0-to-1 projects from opportunity discovery to implementation.
• Experience delivering the full lifecycle of early-phase AI development, from model selection through production and maintenance.
• Ability to connect modeling and analysis work with product and business value.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, or Claude.
• Ability to work remotely from the United States or onsite at a US hub.

Nice to have

• Expertise in AI indexing, retrieval systems, personalization, or natural language processing.
• Experience planning multi-year roadmaps aligned with a long-term vision.
• Advanced degree in machine learning, artificial intelligence, statistics, or a related field.
• Experience mentoring and supporting the development of senior engineers.
