TL;DR

SRE DevOps Engineer (Kubernetes/Cloud): Ensuring reliability, scalability, and optimal performance of the Client Servicing and Engagement platform with an accent on observability and SLO management. Focus on automating toil, leading incident post-mortems, and optimizing multi-cloud infrastructure across Azure and GCP.

Location: Hybrid in Edinburgh (must spend at least 40% of time in office)

What you will do

  • Maintain and improve cloud infrastructure within specific technical areas to ensure stability and performance.
  • Investigate and resolve service issues using an engineering mindset to remove root causes.
  • Continuously enhance observability and relentlessly automate toil to reduce operational overhead.
  • Prioritize service improvements to meet or exceed defined Service Level Objectives (SLOs).
  • Lead incident post-mortems and collaborate with Product Owners to balance run, change, and improve stories.
  • Mentor early-career engineers and participate in technical interviews to grow the engineering team.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional experience in SRE or DevOps roles.
  • Strong technical understanding of Kubernetes and Service Mesh (specifically Istio).
  • Experience with CI/CD automation for build and release pipelines.
  • Proficiency in at least two languages from: Java, Python, Go, C++, JavaScript, TypeScript, PowerShell, or Bash.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure (AKS, Cosmos DB, App Gateway) and GCP (GKE, Apigee, Cloud SQL).
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, or Dynatrace.
  • Must be based in or able to work hybrid in Edinburgh.
