What you will do

• Lead and mentor a team of ~6 senior backend engineers (Go, PHP) through coaching and performance reviews.
• Translate product goals into clear engineering requirements and delivery plans.
• Provide technical direction including architectural alignment and design reviews.
• Collaborate with leadership to shape team growth, career development, and autonomy.
• Manage modernization from legacy PHP APIs to Go-based microservices.
• Oversee full software lifecycle with a focus on CI/CD, TDD, and reliability.

Requirements

• Location: Hybrid role based in Rotterdam with relocation support for EU work permit holders.
• 5+ years leading and mentoring senior backend engineers in production environments.
• Strong backend development experience with Go or PHP and modern API/service architectures.
• Experience with infrastructure spanning multiple data centers and hardware/network automation.
• Proficiency with Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible, and GitLab pipelines.
• Strong architectural and system design skills with focus on modernization and reliability.
• English: B2 level or higher required.
