Backend Engineer (Fintech)

TL;DR

Java Software Engineer Intern (Backend): Contributing to fast-moving projects and building systems for hirify.global's technology team with an accent on hands-on coding and collaboration with engineers. Focus on optimising risk management, fraud detection, and payment processing systems while working with Java 17, GCP, Kubernetes, and PostgreSQL.

Location: Hybrid role based in one of hirify.global's offices in Bucharest, Dubai, Krakow, Lisbon, London, or Madrid. Remote work is possible from Porto or Spain. Must be able to work from a hirify.global office in your country of employment.

Salary: PLN9,500 gross monthly in Krakow. Compensation will be discussed during the interview process for other locations.

What you will do

• Collaborate with engineers across different tech stacks.
• Build APIs and develop microservices.
• Optimise systems for risk management, fraud detection, and payment processing.
• Contribute to greenfield projects and enhance existing ones.
• Share progress with global teams and learn from senior engineers.
• Manage tasks, track progress, and present outcomes.

Requirements

• A predicted or achieved 2:1 (or equivalent grade).
• A portfolio of coding projects or open-source work.
• Currently in your penultimate year of bachelor’s or master’s in computer science, maths, physics, or similar (graduating 2027).
• A problem-solving mindset and a proactive, curious, and results-driven approach.
• Fluency in English and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Full-time availability for Summer 2026.
• The ability to work from a hirify.global office in your country of employment (this is a hybrid role).
