Data Engineer (Databricks)

Location: Remote and hybrid opportunities available in Bulgaria, Georgia, Lithuania, Mexico, Moldova, Poland, and Ukraine

Salary: €4,400–€5,200 gross per month, depending on hiring location and experience

What you will do

• Design, develop, deploy, and optimize scalable data pipelines and ETL processes using Databricks, Spark, Delta Lake, and MLflow.
• Architect and implement data lakehouse solutions with strong data quality, governance, and security.
• Optimize data workflows for performance and cost efficiency across Databricks and Azure, AWS, or GCP platforms.
• Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to translate data requirements into actionable insights.
• Mentor junior engineers and establish data engineering standards, documentation, and data models.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve production pipeline and environment issues while tracking developments in the Databricks ecosystem.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of data engineering experience, including 2+ years working hands-on with Databricks, Spark, Delta Lake, and MLflow.
• Strong Python and/or Scala skills, with a deep understanding of distributed data processing, data warehousing, and ETL.
• Experience with Azure Data Lake, AWS S3, or Google Cloud Storage, as well as large-scale relational and NoSQL databases.
• Knowledge of SQL, CI/CD, DevOps, infrastructure as code, data governance, security, and cloud compliance.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills; English at Upper Intermediate level or higher.
