Staff Data Scientist - Behavior Evaluation (Autonomous Driving)

Location: Foster City, California, United States; hybrid workplace

Base salary: $256,000–$307,000 per year, excluding equity, bonuses, and other compensation components.

What you will do

• Analyze large-scale fleet and simulation datasets to identify actionable insights.
• Develop and evaluate algorithms for data processing, feature engineering, model training, and performance optimization.
• Validate model performance through rigorous testing and analysis focused on system safety and reliability.
• Communicate technical findings and recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to data scientists and engineers.

Requirements

• Master’s or Ph.D. in computer science, statistics, mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
• 8+ years of experience as a data scientist.
• Strong Python programming skills with scikit-learn, Pandas, and SQL.
• Expertise in deep learning, reinforcement learning, and statistical modeling.
• Experience with large-scale datasets, distributed computing platforms such as Spark or Hadoop, data processing, feature engineering, and visualization.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with autonomous driving data and algorithms, robotics, control systems, or related fields.
• Experience with real-time data processing and low-latency systems.
• Publications in leading machine learning or autonomous driving conferences.
