TL;DR
Data Scientist (Autonomous Driving) (Python/SQL): Analyzing real-world driving, validation, and operational data to assess AI Driver readiness and reliability for a fully driverless Robotaxi service with an accent on statistical analysis, performance metrics, and rare-event evaluation. Focus on measuring service reliability, identifying performance gaps, and translating evidence into product and engineering priorities.

Location: Hybrid in Sunnyvale, California, or remote within the USA.

Company

hirify.global is building an AI platform for autonomous driving that learns from real-world experience and supports scalable deployment from L2+ to L4 automation.

What you will do

  • Analyze complex driving, validation, and operational datasets using Python and SQL.
  • Investigate driving behaviours, operational events, safety-critical interventions, unnecessary stops, stuck scenarios, and manoeuvre execution across different roads and conditions.
  • Build metrics, performance baselines, and dashboards for model, software, and product releases.
  • Apply statistical methods to assess rare events, quantify uncertainty, and distinguish meaningful improvements from noise.
  • Measure Robotaxi service reliability, including intervention demand, mission completion, recovery time, vehicle availability, remote assistance, passenger interactions, and vehicle readiness.
  • Translate findings into development priorities, targeted validation, improved data collection, and product readiness evidence.

Requirements

  • At least three years of relevant experience in data science, automotive data analysis, or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience with Python, SQL, statistical analysis, and tools for exploring and visualising large datasets.
  • Ability to turn ambiguous real-world problems into measurable questions, useful KPIs, and practical analytical approaches.
  • Experience analyzing complex systems, identifying performance limitations, and translating findings into product or engineering improvements.
  • Understanding of statistical confidence, rare-event analysis, performance distributions, and trends.
  • Ability to work independently with incomplete data, make reasonable assumptions, and refine approaches as new evidence emerges.
  • Clear communication with engineering, product, and leadership stakeholders, including explaining findings and their limitations.

Nice to have

  • Experience in autonomous driving, ADAS, robotics, mobility services, or another complex physical system.
  • Familiarity with vehicle dynamics, driving behaviour, safety-critical events, or operational reliability.
  • Relevant master’s degree or PhD in Physics, Statistics, or Mathematics, particularly focused on traffic systems, autonomous driving deployment, or urban mobility.

Culture & Benefits

  • Hybrid working with focused remote time and in-person collaboration.
  • Relocation support and visa sponsorship where applicable.
  • Meaningful equity and annually benchmarked salaries.
  • Learning and development budgets for training, conferences, and growth.
  • Health, dental, retirement or pension, enhanced maternity and paternity leave, therapy access, wellbeing partnerships, and team socials, depending on location.
  • An ownership-oriented environment where processes are still being developed.

Hiring process

  • Initial recruiter call lasting 30 minutes.
  • 60-minute competency interview with the hiring manager.
  • Two hours of deep-dive technical interviews covering programming and statistics, followed by a 30-minute final interview.
