Senior Developer - Data Engineering

TL;DR
Senior Developer - Data Engineering: Responsible for creating, maintaining, and refining the core data pipeline tools, as well as supporting several end-user pipelines with an accent on enabling data analytics and data science teams to leverage the tools. Focus on researching new solutions, optimizing existing stack, and pioneering innovations that push the platform forward.
Location: Munich, Germany. Hybrid work policy with 2 office days per week with your team.

What you will do
- Play a key role in a high-performing cross-functional team with a strong focus on data products, velocity, quality, and engineering culture.
- Architect, design, and optimize robust data pipelines to extract, transform, and load diverse datasets efficiently and reliably.
- Craft practical development toolchains to empower other teams in the organization to build high-quality datasets.
- Research new solutions, optimize existing stack, and pioneer innovations that push the platform forward.
- Enhance data engineering processes, monitor pipeline performance, and identify opportunities for optimization and efficiency gains.
- Offer consistent and valuable feedback and recruiting new engineers.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience building and implementing Lakehouse architectures in AWS or other similar setups.
- Effectively build batch and streaming data pipelines using technologies such as Airflow, DBT, Redshift, Athena/Presto, Firehose, Spark, SQL databases, and similar technologies.
- Strong knowledge of how distributed systems work.
- DataOps knowledge (e.g., Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD for data pipelines, automated testing, monitoring/observability implementation, data quality management methodologies).
- Strong programming skills in Python, SQL or similar languages.
Nice to have
- Previous experience in Data Governance is highly desirable.
- Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes/EKS).
- Desire to learn and use cutting-edge LLM tools and agents to improve your and the entire team's productivity.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders and align technical solutions with business objectives.
