Technical Product Owner (AI & Machine Learning)

Location: Remote, with the work location listed as Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Salary: CAD 115,000–145,000 per year; the posted range includes a temporary market premium reassessed annually.

What you will do

• Lead cross-functional machine learning, data science, software engineering, and MLOps teams delivering production-grade AI solutions.
• Translate business objectives into technically feasible AI/ML products, evaluating architecture, complexity, scalability, risk, and model performance trade-offs.
• Define product vision, strategy, roadmaps, cloud-native architectures, and operational strategies for AI capabilities.
• Challenge technical designs and prioritize delivery work while maintaining detailed understanding of solution architecture and implementation.
• Establish AI/ML engineering standards, quality controls, model lifecycle practices, and production-readiness criteria.
• Ensure security, governance, model risk management, responsible AI, compliance, operational resilience, auditability, and measurable business value.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience delivering complex AI, machine learning, data science, advanced analytics, or software products in large-scale enterprise environments.
• 3+ years leading cross-functional technical delivery teams comprising machine learning engineers, data scientists, software engineers, and MLOps practitioners.
• Deep understanding of machine learning, generative AI, large language models, retrieval systems, model evaluation, data engineering, MLOps, and software development practices.
• Ability to evaluate technical designs, challenge architecture decisions, and partner effectively with engineering and research teams.
• Strong technical proficiency in Python, SQL, version control, CI/CD, automated testing, observability, and deployment automation.
• Familiarity with model risk management and AI governance in regulated industries.
• Advanced degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience delivering complex AI/ML solutions.
