TL;DR
Research Associate (Cardiothoracic Transplantation and Multi-Omics): Leading biomarker and precision-medicine research in heart and lung transplantation alongside longitudinal COVID-19 and long COVID studies, with an accent on metabolomics, proteomics, genomics, and predictive modeling. Focus on validating blood biomarkers, analyzing multi-omics data, developing clinical diagnostic tools, coordinating grants, and publishing findings from multidisciplinary research projects.
The hirify.global is an academic research institution whose Faculty of Medicine conducts multidisciplinary work in respiratory medicine, cardiothoracic transplantation, precision medicine, and public health.
What you will do
Lead research projects developing non-invasive biomarkers for diagnosis and outcome prediction in heart and lung transplantation.
Conduct metabolomics, proteomics, and genomics research to identify signatures and pathways associated with transplant rejection and post-transplant outcomes.
Investigate COVID-19 and long COVID pathogenesis, biomarkers, molecular endotypes, and potential therapeutic strategies within a longitudinal multi-omics cohort of 1,000 patients.
Test blood biomarkers using patient samples from four heart transplant centers and one lung transplant center, and analyze experimental and omics data statistically.
Collaborate with clinicians, bioinformaticians, and public health researchers to develop precision-medicine approaches and real-time clinical diagnostic tools.
Coordinate grants, manuscripts, reports, presentations, registries, stakeholder activities, and research meetings while mentoring junior researchers, postdoctoral fellows, and graduate students.
Requirements
MD and MSc degrees with 3+ years of relevant postdoctoral experience in respiratory medicine or thoracic research, plus at least 5 years of clinical experience in respiratory or thoracic medicine.
Extensive knowledge and experience in metabolomics, acute lung injury, and preclinical drug development.
Extensive research experience in COVID-19 and cardiothoracic transplantation studies.
High-quality publication record in cardiothoracic transplantation or respiratory/COVID-19 research, including multiple first- or corresponding-author publications in leading journals such as NEJM, Lancet, JAMA, or BMJ.
Experience studying biomarkers for diagnosing complex lung diseases.
Experience developing and submitting successful grant applications, such as CIHR applications, as an applicant or co-applicant.
Experience managing multiple projects with conflicting timelines and priorities, with excellent time-management skills.
Nice to have
Academic recognition through awards and oral presentations at international cardiothoracic transplantation conferences.
