Research Assistant / Technician (Orthopaedic Research)

Location: hirify.global Hospital Site, Vancouver, BC, Canada

Salary: $4,597.80–$5,469.59 CAD monthly

hirify.global’s Department of Orthopaedics conducts clinical orthopaedics, musculoskeletal science, applied biomedical engineering, and related research.

What you will do

• Check, verify, report, and quality-control registry data according to established protocols.
• Coordinate with centres to schedule reviews and reports, track requests and turnaround times, and follow up on delayed items.
• Execute software scripts to clean and standardize data and perform longitudinal quality checks of image and data files.
• Identify and resolve routine discrepancies, missing records, and data-quality issues; refer unusual problems to the supervisor.
• Assist with standard operating procedures and workflow documentation for data and image management.
• Introduce students and junior employees to established routines, procedures, and equipment operation.

Requirements

• High school graduation, additional training in a related field, and at least two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Willingness to respect diverse perspectives and commitment to developing knowledge and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
• Ability to work within established procedures, set priorities, complete tasks, and refer new or unusual problems to the supervisor.

Nice to have

• Post-secondary education in life sciences, biomedical science, or a health-related discipline.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Software, especially Excel, and REDCap; Power BI experience is an asset.
• Ability to execute existing software scripts and systematically quality-check large image and data file sets.
• Experience with research or clinical databases and accurately abstracting information from clinical documentation.
• Understanding of research ethics and privacy obligations for identifiable and coded health information.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to maintain accuracy across high volumes of files and records.
• Ability to work with minimal day-to-day direction, prioritize competing tasks, and communicate effectively with research and core facility staff.
