Senior Fullstack Engineer (Database Observability)

Location: Remote; applications accepted from the UK, Ireland, Spain and Germany. The role includes in-person onboarding.

Salary: €100,000–€125,000 base compensation in Germany, plus RSUs. Compensation is country-specific for applicants outside Germany.

hirify.global develops Grafana Cloud, a fully managed open-source observability platform used to monitor metrics, logs and traces across applications and infrastructure.

What you will do

• Build and evolve Grafana Cloud Database Observability experiences that help users understand database health and performance, identify slow queries and troubleshoot issues.
• Own technical projects from problem framing through rollout, incorporating user feedback and measuring outcomes.
• Develop intuitive, reusable frontend components with React and TypeScript, contributing to APIs and backend functionality in Go when needed.
• Collaborate with product management, design, backend engineers and other squads on product delivery, shared dependencies and technical proposals.
• Mentor engineers through code reviews, design feedback, pairing and technical discussions.
• Participate in on-call, incident response and customer escalations while improving production reliability and identifying user friction.

Requirements

• Strong frontend engineering experience building and maintaining production web applications with React and TypeScript, with experience contributing across the stack to backend services and APIs.
• Experience with maintainable, readable, secure production software and automated testing.
• Experience delivering complex technical projects, mentoring engineers and improving team effectiveness.
• Clear communication in a fully remote, asynchronous environment.
• Experience operating software in production, participating in on-call and responding to incidents.
• Ability to solve complex engineering problems independently, use short feedback loops, deliver MVPs and iterate based on learning.
• Practical experience with AI coding tools, including validating their output and sharing effective practices.
• Interest in contributing to the Grafana community.

Nice to have

• Open-source contribution or maintainership and experience engaging with an open community.
• Interest in observability and experience with Grafana, Prometheus or other observability platforms.
• Experience with databases, SQL or database performance monitoring.
• Experience building backend services in Go.
• Experience using Grafana, Prometheus, Loki or Tempo on call, including in a homelab.
• Experience working in a fully remote, globally distributed team.
