Associate Counsel, Commercial Retail (Fintech)

Location: New York, NY; hybrid schedule with employees required to work in the office 4 days per week.

Base salary: $200,000–$250,000 per year, excluding bonuses and equity.

hirify.global is building a cloud-native capital markets platform and a modern retail brokerage business for individual investors and active traders.

What you will do

• Lead commercial legal support for Retail and advise leadership on agreements, deal structures, risk allocation, scope, deliverables, pricing, and payment terms.
• Draft and negotiate partnerships, affiliate, creator, paid media, creative production, agency, event, technology vendor, statement of work, amendment, and NDA agreements.
• Review incoming agreements and counterparty redlines, set negotiating positions within playbooks, and escalate terms outside the playbook to the General Counsel.
• Develop contracting playbooks and templates for routine Retail agreements.
• Advise on exclusivity, intellectual property, content usage rights, data sharing, indemnification, liability limits, termination, and renewal.
• Partner with Compliance, Finance, Procurement, Privacy, and Information Security on approvals, advertising, creator campaigns, testimonials, promotions, and emerging legal risks.

Requirements

• J.D. from an accredited law school and admission to practice in at least one U.S. jurisdiction; New York admission preferred.
• Approximately 3–5 years of relevant commercial or transactional attorney experience in a law firm or in-house environment, ideally in fintech, brokerage, consumer technology, digital media, or advertising.
• Direct experience negotiating marketing, partnership, agency, and vendor agreements.
• Strong drafting and negotiation skills with close attention to commercial detail.
• Ability to independently manage a substantial matter load and prioritize competing demands.
• Sound risk judgment, including knowing when to accept a position, push back, or escalate.
• Confidence advising business leaders and negotiating with counterparties and external counsel.
• Proactive working style with ownership of issues, practical solutions, and results.

Nice to have

• Experience at a startup or rapidly expanding business.
• Familiarity with affiliate marketing, influencer agreements, media buying, and creative licensing.
• Experience working with Legal and Compliance teams in financial services.
• Experience with technology, data, and privacy-related commercial terms.
