Security Engineer (AI)

Location: Chicago, IL (Hybrid)

Base salary: $110,000–$120,000 annually

What you will do

• Engineer, operate, and improve cloud security controls covering networking, identity, logging, encryption, configuration baselines, and security tooling coverage.
• Run vulnerability management end to end, including ingestion, triage, risk-based prioritization, remediation coordination, exceptions, and SLA reporting.
• Tune detections, respond to security events, maintain incident-response runbooks, and run tabletop exercises and security improvements.
• Improve IAM across employees, service accounts, and agent identities through least privilege, RBAC, SSO, provisioning automation, and access reviews.
• Review application and infrastructure-as-code changes, create secure templates and automated CI/CD checks, and coach engineers on remediation.
• Assess and secure AI tools and agents, support AI-enabled security workflows, and partner with engineering, IT Support, GRC, executives, and auditors on risk, remediation, and compliance evidence.

Requirements

• 3+ years of cybersecurity experience at a SaaS company or equivalent.
• Hands-on security engineering experience in a cloud environment; AWS preferred.
• Ability to read code and infrastructure as code, including Terraform or CloudFormation and languages such as Python, Go, or TypeScript, identify security issues, and provide constructive review feedback.
• Practical experience with vulnerability management and incident response.
• Solid understanding of IAM principles, including least privilege, RBAC, SSO, access reviews, and joiner/mover/leaver processes for people, service accounts, and agent identities.
• Working knowledge of risks introduced by AI systems and ways AI can reduce security work.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain risk to different audiences.

Nice to have

• CISSP, AWS security certification, or another relevant certification.
• Experience with SIEM, EDR, CSPM, vulnerability scanning, or IdP tooling.
• Experience automating security workflows with scripting or APIs.
• Hands-on experience evaluating or building LLM-based applications or agents.
• Familiarity with NIST CSF, CIS Benchmarks, OWASP including the LLM Top 10, or MITRE ATT&CK.
• Experience running tabletop exercises or leading incidents.
