Senior Embedded Developer (C/C++)

Location: Norway; hybrid, with at least 4 days per month at the Oslo office or a client office in Oslo, Asker, Horten, or Kongsberg.

Compensation: 51% of billing as gross salary, typically NOK 90,000–100,000 per month; guaranteed NOK 50,000 per month for the first 6 months.

What you will do

• Develop embedded software and firmware for demanding, mission-critical client projects.
• Build low-level drivers and communication interfaces for embedded hardware.
• Design and optimize hardware-near systems, including memory management, timing, and resource usage.
• Use build systems, scripting, cross-compilation, debugging tools, and CI/CD workflows.
• Choose projects from hirify.global’s client base and collaborate with clients according to project needs.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience in embedded software or firmware development.
• Deep professional experience in one or more of C/C++, Embedded Linux, RTOS, or bare-metal development.
• Experience with low-level drivers and protocols such as SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, RS485, Ethernet, or USB.
• Strong understanding of hardware-near concepts, including memory management, timing, and resource optimization.
• Proficiency with build systems such as CMake, Yocto, or Buildroot; Python or Bash scripting; and cross-compilation workflows.
• Experience with hardware debugging using JTAG, GDB, or logic analyzers, and with CI/CD processes using Git.
• Fluency in both Norwegian and English.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, plus eagerness to solve technical challenges involving physical hardware.

Nice to have

• Experience with IoT, sensor integration, and wireless communication.
• Experience with unit testing, test automation, Secure Boot, or OTA update mechanisms.
• Eligibility for Norwegian security clearance.
