Senior Vice President, Crisis & Risk Communications - Data, Security, and Privacy

Location: Hybrid, with 3 days per week in the Chicago, New York City, or Washington, D.C. office; on-site client work and travel as needed.

Salary: $150,000–$220,000 annually, plus potential bonuses and region-specific benefits.

What you will do

• Counsel senior client leaders on cybersecurity, data security, privacy, and other complex crises.
• Develop incident-response communications strategies, playbooks, trainings, tabletops, and response materials.
• Work with legal, forensic, insurance, security, communications, and client stakeholders on holistic response plans.
• Translate complex security and privacy issues into clear communications for executives, boards, employees, customers, regulators, investors, and media.
• Lead account strategy, operational and financial performance, team oversight, billing, and budgets.
• Grow the Data Security & Privacy offering through new business development, client relationship expansion, media strategy, and internal training.

Requirements

• 10+ years of crisis management experience, including integrated account work, team management, and growing client account work.
• Ability to work a hybrid schedule with 3 days per week in the Chicago, NYC, or D.C. office.
• Ability to be on site with clients as needed.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Advanced writing, communications strategy, media relations, client counsel, and message development skills.
• Experience leading teams, managing multiple deadlines, and handling operational and financial account performance.
• Ability to respond outside regular work hours as needed for breaking issues.

Nice to have

• Experience in federal law enforcement, regulatory bodies, or other relevant government entities.
• Experience preparing organizations for and responding to cybersecurity, data security, and privacy incidents.
• Understanding of the cybersecurity and data privacy incident-response ecosystem, including counsel, forensic investigators, insurers, brokers, regulators, law enforcement, and internal security teams.
• Experience with legally sensitive, fast-moving, high-pressure communications counsel and crisis response.
• Experience growing profitable programs, developing proposals, securing new business, and leading pitches.
• Ability to coach teams, adapt to changing conditions, solve problems, manage projects, and travel as needed.
