Software Engineer II (C++)

Location: Hybrid position requiring on-site work at the Montreal, QC office at least three days per week.

Salary: $82,000–$123,000 annual base pay, plus a target performance-based annual cash incentive of 10% of base pay.

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, document, and maintain software components for the Aurora Imaging Library machine vision SDK.
• Integrate software and hardware and participate in code reviews to ensure quality, consistency, and alignment with project objectives.
• Evaluate Aurora Imaging Library performance on ARM systems by analyzing profiling and benchmark results, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing optimizations.
• Enhance existing software functionality, scalability, and performance while addressing complex technical challenges.
• Apply current software engineering technologies and methodologies, including C++, C#, Python, and agentic AI tools.
• Support less experienced staff and recommend tools or methodologies that improve performance and productivity.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related engineering discipline, or equivalent work experience in lieu of a degree.
• At least 2 years of relevant software engineering experience with a bachelor’s degree, or 0+ years with an advanced degree.
• Familiarity with C++, C#, Python, operating systems, algorithms, and software development frameworks, including agentic AI tools.
• Experience optimizing software performance using SIMD, parallel processing, ARM Neon, or similar techniques.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Understanding of software development life cycles such as Agile and Scrum.
• Experience with FPGA development workflows, including Vivado IP Integrator and high-level synthesis.
• Experience debugging, testing, and troubleshooting software systems.
• Familiarity with Git, GitHub, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong teamwork, collaboration, interpersonal communication, problem-solving, and independent working skills.
• Ability to communicate professionally in French and English.
