Senior Security Architect (AI Security)

Location: Hybrid in Chicago, IL or Bellevue, WA, with recurring in-office days and travel as needed for customer on-sites, team planning workshops, and company gatherings.

Salary: $165,000–$180,000 annual base salary, plus bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead security for AI agents, LLMs, infrastructure, and other AI-driven solutions, mitigating emerging AI-specific threats.
• Partner with Engineering, Marketing, Product, and GTM teams to assess SaaS risks and implement secure architectural patterns.
• Lead application security initiatives using GitLab Ultimate SAST/DAST to identify and remediate vulnerabilities throughout the release lifecycle.
• Architect and secure AWS environments with Network Firewalls and Egress-Only VPCs.
• Automate continuous security monitoring and SOC 2/ISO compliance evidence collection using Wiz and Datadog.
• Communicate security trade-offs, document architectural decisions through SBARs and ADRs, and manage security events including vendor incidents and IAM/SCIM access reviews.

Requirements

• 7–10 years of progressive experience in security architecture or engineering, including full-stack technical depth and establishing AppSec standards in modern SaaS environments.
• Hands-on experience architecting and securing cloud environments, preferably AWS, and applying structured threat modeling to AI/ML stacks including agents, LLMs, and MCP servers.
• Proficiency with cloud security, observability, and CI/CD policy tooling such as Wiz, Datadog, and GitLab Ultimate SAST/DAST.
• Experience automating SOC 2 and ISO compliance evidence collection and driving SLA-governed vulnerability remediation.
• Ability to partner across Engineering, Product, and GTM teams, communicate risk trade-offs, and document decisions using ADRs and SBARs.
• Curiosity about and experience using modern AI tools, LLMs, or automated workflows to improve problem-solving and operational efficiency.
• Willingness and ability to travel for customer on-sites, team planning workshops, and company gatherings.

Nice to have

• AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional, AWS Certified Security – Specialty, AWS Certified Advanced Networking – Specialty, or CISSP.
• Familiarity with AI security standards such as OWASP Top 10 for LLM/GenAI and MITRE ATLAS.
• Security community contributions through research, open-source tooling, or industry presentations.
• Experience building or scaling a security architecture function in a fast-growing SaaS organization with lean resources.
