Internal Audit – LATAM (AML/CFT & Virtual Assets)

Location: Brazil; remote-first, work-from-home arrangement, with working hours adjusted for different time zones

What you will do

• Own the LATAM Internal Audit plan, risk assessment, and coverage of regulatory and financial crime risks.
• Lead end-to-end audits covering AML/CFT, sanctions, KYC/CDD, transaction monitoring, screening, suspicious activity reporting, and broader regulatory compliance.
• Assess control design and operating effectiveness against local AML and virtual asset requirements, group standards, and international expectations.
• Monitor the LATAM regulatory landscape, including licensing, virtual asset rules, and AML/CFT requirements, and translate findings into audit coverage.
• Prepare audit documentation, including process narratives, risk and control matrices, testing workpapers, issue summaries, flowcharts, and supporting evidence.
• Identify control gaps and root causes, recommend improvements, follow up on remediation, support thematic audits and regulatory mapping, and contribute to automation and data analytics initiatives.

Requirements

• Relevant experience in internal audit, compliance monitoring and testing, regulatory compliance, or risk assurance, preferably in financial services, fintech, or another regulated industry.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience, including leading audit or review engagements end-to-end.
• Strong technical knowledge of AML/CFT, sanctions, KYC/CDD, transaction monitoring, screening, and suspicious activity reporting.
• Experience assessing control design and operating effectiveness and testing against regulatory requirements.
• Ability to conduct structured stakeholder interviews and analyze processes using a risk and control mindset.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, including credible engagement with senior management and regulators in the region.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to prepare high-quality audit documentation.
• Ability to work under time constraints, manage multiple priorities, and operate with limited information in a fast-changing environment.
• Flexibility to adjust working hours for different time zones.

Nice to have

• Practical knowledge of Brazil and/or other LATAM jurisdictions' AML and virtual asset regulatory frameworks.
• Professional certification such as CIA, CAMS, CRMA, or equivalent.
• Experience with digital assets, crypto exchanges, or virtual asset service providers.
