Network Engineer – WAN / Cisco ASR & ISR

Location: 100% remote from Poland; full-time, 5 days per week.

Rate: 160–200 PLN/h net on a B2B contract, depending on experience.

What you will do

• Operate the WAN product end to end across Cisco ASR/ISR routers and Catalyst, including infrastructure transitions, changes, releases, and decommissioning.
• Configure, administer, and troubleshoot routers, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, IOS-XE firmware, and Cisco Smart Licensing.
• Coordinate WAN line provisioning, carrier handovers, new site connections, maintenance windows, and lifecycle activities.
• Resolve WAN outages, latency, QoS issues, and 2nd- and 3rd-level incidents; support major incidents, root-cause analysis, problem management, and workarounds.
• Manage monitoring, logging, availability and capacity reporting, vulnerability remediation, CMDB data, licenses, and asset lifecycle activities.
• Support audits and continual service improvement, develop automation, mentor nearshore engineers, and maintain runbooks, configuration standards, and SOPs.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience with Cisco WAN technologies, including ASR and ISR routers, BGP, OSPF, and MPLS.
• Cisco CCNA or CCNP Enterprise certification, or equivalent.
• Experience leading or coaching network engineering teams, including onboarding and coordinating nearshore resources.
• Strong communication and conflict-resolution skills.
• Experience maintaining operational documentation and knowledge management.
• Solid understanding of ITIL Incident, Problem, Change, Release, Knowledge, Configuration, Event, Availability, and Capacity Management in a regulated environment.
• Ability to coordinate handovers between Plan & Build and Run.
• Fluent spoken and written English.
• An existing one-person company registered in Poland is required.

Nice to have

• German language skills.
• Cisco SD-WAN Specialist certification or ITIL certification.
• Network automation with Ansible and Python, and experience with CheckMK.
• Experience in banking or financial services.
