Manufacturing Engineer (Aerospace)

What you will do

• Develop manufacturing methods, processes, routings, labor standards, job cards, work instructions, and acceptance test procedures for new and improved products.
• Design tools and fixtures for assembly and acceptance testing, and support the fabrication, modification, and evaluation of assembly operations.
• Perform line balancing and product line layouts to improve assembly flow, efficiency, and TAKT achievement.
• Provide engineering support for drawing interpretation, engineering changes, rework, manufacturing difficulties, specifications, ERP studies, and production aids.
• Analyze customer returns, determine root causes, and lead corrective actions with program management and quality.
• Lead continuous improvement using Lean, Six Sigma, and DMAIC while coordinating production priorities with planning, quality, and assembly leadership.

Requirements

• BS degree in Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering from a four-year college or university and at least five years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience with mechanical systems, lean manufacturing principles, standard work, line balancing, operational objectives, and performance metrics.
• Experience in a commercial aircraft seating assembly environment.
• Familiarity with aluminum alloys, stainless steel alloys, engineering polymers, composites, and other materials.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical data.
• Ability to apply statistical analysis techniques including Design of Experiments, Optimization, Process Reliability, Hypothesis Testing, and Regression Analysis.
• Required experience with 3-D modeling software such as Uni-graphics, SolidWorks, or Solid Edge.
• Strong analytical and mechanical troubleshooting skills, plus DMAIC problem-solving experience.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Ability to work in an office, stores, and manufacturing environment, including sitting, standing, bending, reaching, walking, and lifting typically limited to 10–20 pounds.
