Senior Air Quality Permitting Lead

Location: Remote, with flexible remote work opportunities in approved states

What you will do

• Lead air permit applications and technical analyses under federal, state, and local programs, including NSR, PSD, and Title V.
• Develop permitting strategies, control technology evaluations, mitigation measures, emissions calculations, and regulatory analyses.
• Serve as a senior liaison with clients, project managers, regulatory agencies, air districts, and stakeholders.
• Review technical reports, permit applications, compliance reports, and supporting materials; respond to agency comments and resolve regulatory issues.
• Support scopes of work, cost estimates, proposals, client presentations, budgets, schedules, and business development, including an internal revenue target of approximately $250,000 per year.
• Mentor, train, recruit, and supervise staff while developing workflows, quality standards, and a sustainable air quality permitting group.

Requirements

• At least 12 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, such as BS plus 8 years, MS plus 7 years, or PhD plus 6 years, in Environmental Science, Atmospheric Science, Engineering, Public Health, or a related field.
• Proficiency in regulatory analysis, emissions calculations, and emission control technology evaluations, including BACT.
• Comprehensive understanding of air quality dispersion models such as AERMOD.
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local air regulations, including the Clean Air Act, NSR/PSD, NESHAP, NSPS, and Title V permitting.
• Experience leading complex permitting projects, managing client relationships, and working with regulatory agencies and stakeholders.
• Experience with criteria pollutant and GHG emissions inventories, annual emissions reporting, and data analysis.
• Excellent organizational, time-management, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
• Willingness to travel for project and business development activities.
